A Good Evening

Last night we held out club social and quiz night. It was great to see a good turn out from club members and also from other clubs in the area. Thank you to everyone who turned up and in particular to those who helped organise, set up and clear up at the end. A special mention for our president Rose McConchie for all her work in getting this evening to come together and making it a great success.

Quiz/Social Night

The club is holding a social night on Saturday 16th July to raise funds, to socialise with other clubs and to show some of our work to the community at large. The main event is a General Knowledge Quiz; the quiz will be for teams of between 2 and 5 people so brings your friends and you could be in to win a $100 cash prize. Entry to the quiz is $5 per person, early registration for teams would be appreciated.

As well as the quiz we will be showing some of the imaghes taken by club members so please bring some images along to the club over the next couple of weeks so we can arrange to hve them displayed. There will also be a supper provided and a raffle.

Tell your friends and colleagues and please everyone come along and join us.

Kaiapoi Photo Walk

Next Monday evening (7th March) we are going to do a photo walk around Kaiapoi so bring your cameras and a trip if you have one. Take lots of images and try for something a bit different. Next week (14th March) we will be having a 6×4 competition where you all bring in up to 2 images (6×4 size) for review and judging – all the images must be taken on the this weeks photo walk.

Earthquake

As you know Rose is currently on holiday in the North Island, however as a club, I want to let you know that our thoughts are with the people of Canterbury and with each member of the club at this time.

Although we are spread over a wide geographic area, I know we are all dealing with the effects of this earthquake in different ways.

I have had contact with a few of the members, however it would be good to know if there are any specific needs that any member/ family may have or if anyone can help others.

I have today received from Rose, sad news that Abby’s friend, Mattie who modelled for us on Monday night was killed in the earthquake.

Our thoughts are with Matties friends and family. It would be appreciated if we can collect some photos taken on Monday night so we can give them to the family.

Night Photography Field Trip

This Monday (20th September) we are having a field trip to take some night photographs. Bring your cameras and tripods and forget all about earthquakes. We are meeting at the Art Centre at 7.30pm. See you all there.

Southern Regional Judging

Just wanted to say thank you to the judges of this year’s PSNZ Southern Regional Salon and also to all those from the club who turned out to help. Your help was greatly appreciated; the judging went smoothly and the food was great. A particular thank you is required for Linzei Foster LPSNZ for her excellent organisation and labelling of the all the images in the salon, we could not have managed without you!.

Please note that there is no meeting tomorrow due to the earthquake, we intend to resume normal service on the 20th with our field trip into Christchurch to take some night photographs.

Next Monday (26th July) our meeting is titled “How to get the best out of your camera.” Bring your camera, your instruction manual and your questions. It should be interesting and we should all learn something.

Set Subject

It is time to start thinking about this year’s Set Subject competition. This year the theme is ‘Kitchen Things’, hopefully that leaves plenty of scope for experimentation. The competition closes on 13th September.

Basic Instruction

This is a bit short notice but just to let you know tomorrow’s meeting will consist of Moray and I going through some of the basics of photography. We hope to have a few live demonstrations to illustrate what we are talking about and hopefully make you think a bit. Please bring your cameras, manuals and plenty of questions – if Moray and I are stumped there should be someone in the club who can give you an answer. See you there!
